UNION
WITH CHRIST
Life in union with Christ! God affirms this to me as the key to all of
life! I just can’t get over this truth,
and I hope I never do. I suppose that’s
what eternity is for…to forever bask in Christ!
Consider the following verse:
When Christ WHO IS OUR LIFE appears,
then you also will appear with Him in glory (Colossians
3:4).
Amazing!
This intimate union is
all because of the cross of Christ:
For if we have been united together
in the likeness of His death,
CERTAINLY we also shall be in the
likeness of His resurrection
(Romans 6:5).
I can get so busy that I fall for the
temptation of trying to do all the right things. However, God doesn’t want me to live trying
to do right! I can do what is right in
my own eyes and still be unconcerned for God’s glory and honor (see Judges
17:6). God wants me to live solely by
trusting (resting in) the life of His dear Son in me (Hebrews 4:1).
I can also fall for another temptation
of doing things with God’s help.
However, God doesn’t just want to help me! J Oh how He wants to live through me in the
life of His dear Son to minister to others (Galatians 2:20)!
These two attempts (at-temptations!)
at “living” are based on the subtle deception that I have a separate identity
from Christ – that I have something in me that can do something of real
value. I do have a unique personality,
but it is truly manifested only when Christ lives through me.
